Not yet a Bank Holiday in the UK, Windrush day, held on the 22nd June each year, it is an observed day and one that highlights the amazing legacy of the Windrush Generation to British society.

The purpose of Windrush Day is to encourage communities across the country to celebrate these contributions made by the Windrush Generation, and their descendants, and thank all those involved for rebuilding this society following the Second World War.

Jamaican 60th Anniversary of Independence – August 6th, 2022.

Did you know that Jamaica is the only country in the world whose flag does not contain the colours of red, white or blue! I think this demonstrates its spirit of independence!

On August 6th each year, Jamaican Independence is celebrated and is a public holiday on the island. This holiday is the National Day of Jamaica and celebrates independence from the United Kingdom on this day in 1962.

Notting Hill Carnival – Saturday 27th – Monday 29th August, 2022.
