Venison has a delicate, gamey taste and is a great alternative to beef fillet steak. Cut from the haunch, these steaks are naturally lean and need only a few minutes in a frying pan. We recommend cooking venison in butter as it really adds to the flavour of the steak when cooked.

To preserve the freshness and quality of Venison Haunch Steak, it is recommended to store it in the refrigerator at a temperature between 32°F and 40°F (0°C and 4°C). Ensure the steak is properly wrapped or stored in an airtight container to prevent any exposure to air or odors. Stored correctly, the Venison Haunch Steak can maintain its freshness for up to 3-4 days. If you wish to extend its shelf life, you can also freeze the steak. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or place it in a freezer-safe bag or container. Frozen Venison Haunch Steak can retain its quality for approximately 6-9 months. When ready to cook, thaw the steak in the refrigerator and consume it promptly for the best taste and texture.

Your item will arrive in a 100% recycled box lovingly packed with FSC-certified shredded spruce from Britain and Sweden, natural sheep’s wool insulation and non-toxic chilled gel packs, all of which can be reused, composted or recycled. To recycle the gel packs, simply cut a corner and dispose of the contents through your normal domestic waste system, as the gel isn’t harmful to the environment. Better still, reuse them by storing in the freezer and chilling other products. The only component from our packaging that can’t be recycled are the foil liners which need to be go in household waste; the poly bags meat comes in needs to go in plastic recycling.


Here’s cooking instruction for Venison Haunch Steak:

1. Preheat your grill or skillet to high heat.
2. Season the Venison Haunch Steak with salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings or marinades. Let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.
3. If using a grill, oil the grates to prevent sticking. If using a skillet, heat a small amount of oil or butter in the pan.
4. Place the Venison Haunch Steak on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare doneness. Adjust the cooking time according to your preferred level of doneness.
5. Avoid overcooking the steak, as venison tends to dry out quickly. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, aim for around 135°F (57°C).
6. Once cooked to your desired doneness, remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for about 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
7. Slice the Venison Haunch Steak against the grain into thin slices. This helps ensure tenderness.
8. Serve immediately with your choice of sides, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad.
