Here’s a basic cooking instruction for pork shoulder steak:

  • Pork shoulder steak
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil or cooking oil of your choice
  • Optional seasonings or marinades (such as garlic powder, paprika, soy sauce, or Worcestershire sauce)

  1. Preparing the steak:
    • Take the pork shoulder steak out of the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps ensure even cooking.
    • Pat the steak dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This will help with browning and searing.
  2. Seasoning the steak:
    • Sprinkle both sides of the pork shoulder steak generously with salt and pepper. You can also add additional seasonings or marinades of your choice to enhance the flavor. Rub them into the meat gently.
  3. Preheating the skillet or grill:
    • Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Add a small amount of olive oil or cooking oil and let it heat up.
  4. Searing the steak:
    • Place the seasoned pork shoulder steak onto the preheated skillet or grill. Allow it to sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side until a nice brown crust forms. This will help seal in the juices.
  5. Cooking the steak:
    • Reduce the heat to medium-low or move the steak to a cooler part of the grill. Continue cooking the pork shoulder steak for an additional 10-15 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the steak. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C) for medium-rare or 160°F (71°C) for medium doneness.
    • For more accurate cooking, you can use a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the steak to check the internal temperature.
  6. Resting and serving:
    • Once the steak is cooked to your desired doneness, remove it from the heat and let it rest for about 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a juicier steak.
    • Slice the pork shoulder steak against the grain into thin slices. This helps make it more tender.
    • Serve the steak immediately with your choice of sides, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad.

Remember, cooking times may vary depending on the thickness of the pork shoulder steak and your preferred level of doneness. Adjust the cooking time accordingly and use a meat thermometer to ensure the steak is cooked to a safe internal temperature. Enjoy your meal!
