STORAGE ADVICE
To maintain the freshness and quality of Calves Liver, proper storage is essential. Store the bag of Calves Liver in the refrigerator at a temperature below 40°F (4°C). It is important to keep the liver well-sealed to prevent any contamination or exposure to air. Properly stored, Calves Liver can be refrigerated for up to 1-2 days. If you don’t plan to use it within that timeframe, you can also freeze the liver. Place it in airtight freezer-safe containers or resealable plastic bags, removing as much air as possible before sealing. Frozen Calves Liver can maintain its quality for approximately 2-3 months. When ready to use, thaw the liver in the refrigerator before cooking. It is important to cook thawed liver promptly and consume it within a few days for the best taste and safety.

Your item will arrive in a 100% recycled box lovingly packed with FSC-certified shredded spruce from Britain and Sweden, natural sheep’s wool insulation and non-toxic chilled gel packs, all of which can be reused, composted or recycled. To recycle the gel packs, simply cut a corner and dispose of the contents through your normal domestic waste system, as the gel isn’t harmful to the environment. Better still, reuse them by storing in the freezer and chilling other products. The only component from our packaging that can’t be recycled are the foil liners which need to be go in household waste; the poly bags meat comes in needs to go in plastic recycling.

Cooking Calves Liver for Pets:

Ingredients:
• 1 piece of calves liver (approximately 4 ounces)
• Water or low-sodium broth (enough to cover the liver)
• Optional: A small amount of oil or butter for cooking (check with your vet if it’s suitable for your pet)
• Optional: Seasonings suitable for pets (consult with your vet for appropriate options)

Instructions:
1. Rinse the calves liver under cold water to remove any debris. Pat it dry with a paper towel.
2. In a small saucepan, bring water or low-sodium broth to a boil. Ensure there is enough liquid to completely cover the liver.
3. Carefully place the liver into the boiling liquid and reduce the heat to a simmer. Allow it to cook for about 10 minutes. Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the liver, so you can check for doneness by cutting into it. The liver should be cooked all the way through but still moist.
4. Once the liver is cooked, remove it from the liquid and let it cool slightly. You can cut it into small, bite-sized pieces if desired. Be sure to remove any visible fat or connective tissue.
5. If you choose to use oil or butter for cooking, heat a small amount in a skillet over medium heat. Add the liver pieces and cook them for a few minutes on each side until lightly browned. This step is optional and can enhance the flavor, but it’s not necessary if you want to keep the liver plain.
6. Let the liver cool completely before serving it to your pet. You can portion it into suitable serving sizes based on your pet’s needs. Avoid adding any additional seasonings unless recommended by your vet.
7. Serve the cooked calves liver to your pet as a treat or mix it with their regular food for added flavor and nutrition. Always consult with your vet regarding the appropriate amount to feed your pet based on their size, age, and dietary requirements.
