The Black Farmer lamb mince is premium-quality, lean and packed full of flavour. You can add your own seasonings and shape to make gorgeous burgers and Greek kebabs.

High-quality lamb mince is also the basis for a true British classic: Shepherd’s Pie. It is worth taking the time to cook the mince slowly in a cast-iron pan. Allow it to render and release its water. It will brown and, when it starts to crackle, it means you are singeing the meat, which should be your aim. Stir in finely chopped onions, carrots and celery, then add crushed garlic, herbs, tomato puree and Worcestershire sauce to taste. We recommend adding enough lamb stock to cover and then slowly simmering the mince until it’s rich and flavoursome. Allow to set in the fridge, then add mashed potato with a small amount of egg yolk in it. This will give you a luscious, browned topping.


The Black Farmer works with the best local suppliers. We source highest-quality lamb from the South West of England, which is fed on grass and free to graze the lush fields that abound in the area. Lamb mince of this quality is lower in fat and has a deeper, richer flavour than standard supermarket fare.

Each tender and succulent bite is packed with the distinctive essence of lamb, allowing you to create mouthwatering dishes that will impress even the most discerning palates. To maintain the freshness and quality of minced lamb, it is recommended to store it in the refrigerator at a temperature of 32°F to 40°F (0°C to 4°C). Place the minced lamb in an airtight container or resealable plastic bag to prevent any exposure to air or odors. Properly stored, minced lamb can be refrigerated for up to 1-2 days. If you plan to store it for a longer period, you can also freeze the minced lamb. Divide it into portions and place them in airtight freezer-safe containers or resealable bags. Frozen minced lamb can maintain its quality for approximately 3-4 months. Remember to thaw frozen minced lamb in the refrigerator before cooking for the best results.

Your item will arrive in a 100% recycled box lovingly packed with FSC-certified shredded spruce from Britain and Sweden, natural sheep’s wool insulation and non-toxic chilled gel packs, all of which can be reused, composted or recycled. To recycle the gel packs, simply cut a corner and dispose of the contents through your normal domestic waste system, as the gel isn’t harmful to the environment. Better still, reuse them by storing in the freezer and chilling other products. The only component from our packaging that can’t be recycled are the foil liners which need to be go in household waste; the poly bags meat comes in needs to go in plastic recycling.


Here’s cooking instruction for minced lamb:

1. Heat a tablespoon of cooking oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat.
2. Add the minced lamb to the pan and break it up with a spatula or wooden spoon. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the lamb is browned and cooked through.
3. If there is excess fat in the pan, you can drain it off using a spoon or tilt the pan and remove the fat with a kitchen towel.
4. Add your desired seasonings and spices to the cooked lamb. Common choices include garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Adjust the amounts according to your taste preferences.
5. Stir the seasonings into the lamb and continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
6. Remove the pan from heat and let the minced lamb rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help the juices redistribute and keep the meat tender.
7. Serve the cooked minced lamb as desired. It can be used as a filling for wraps, tacos, or burgers, or as a topping for salads or pasta dishes.
