DETAILS A simple yet splendid addition to a meal, fried plantains are often served alongside meat or eaten as a snack. The riper the plantain, the better!
The term “plantain” refers to a type of banana with a very different flavour profile and culinary application than the sweet, yellow banana  which most people associate with bananas. Plantains are usually bigger and tougher than bananas, with much thicker skin. They may be green, yellow or very dark brown. Cooking methods include frying, baking, and boiling.
STORAGE ADVICE To store yellow plantains effectively, it’s crucial to consider their ripeness. If they are still green and firm, store them at room temperature until they ripen and develop a yellow skin with some black spots. Once they reach the desired ripeness, you can extend their shelf life by placing them in a cool, dry place, such as a fruit basket or a countertop. However, if you want to slow down the ripening process, store them in the refrigerator. Keep them in a plastic bag to prevent the ethylene gas they produce from accelerating ripening. If your yellow plantains have fully ripened and you’re not ready to use them, you can peel and freeze them for later use in cooking or baking. This ensures you have a convenient supply of ripe plantains whenever you need them.
PACKAGING  This pack contains 1 piece of Yellow Plantain.

Your item will arrive in a 100% recycled box lovingly packed with FSC-certified shredded spruce from Britain and Sweden, natural sheep’s wool insulation and non-toxic chilled gel packs, all of which can be reused, composted or recycled.
