Introducing our Poussin Whole, a culinary delight that exemplifies the finest quality and flavor at The Black Farmer. Sourced from responsibly raised, hormone-free poultry, our whole poussin offers a tender and succulent eating experience. With its delicate and juicy meat, this young and small chicken is perfect for special occasions or when you desire an elegant and flavorful meal. Whether roasted, grilled, or braised, our Poussin Whole promises a delightful combination of moist meat and rich, savory taste that will impress even the most discerning palates.
To maintain the freshness and quality of your Poussin Whole, it is recommended to store it in the refrigerator at a temperature of 32°F to 40°F (0°C to 4°C). Keep the Poussin Whole in its original packaging or place it in an airtight container or resealable plastic bag to prevent any cross-contamination or exposure to odors. Properly stored, the Poussin Whole can be refrigerated for up to 2-3 days. If you wish to extend its shelf life, you can also freeze the Poussin Whole. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil or place it in a freezer-safe bag or container. Frozen Poussin Whole can maintain its quality for approximately 3-4 months. Thaw frozen Poussin Whole in the refrigerator before cooking for the best results.

Your item will arrive in a 100% recycled box lovingly packed with FSC-certified shredded spruce from Britain and Sweden, natural sheep’s wool insulation and non-toxic chilled gel packs, all of which can be reused, composted or recycled. To recycle the gel packs, simply cut a corner and dispose of the contents through your normal domestic waste system, as the gel isn’t harmful to the environment. Better still, reuse them by storing in the freezer and chilling other products. The only component from our packaging that can’t be recycled are the foil liners which need to be go in household waste; the poly bags meat comes in needs to go in plastic recycling.


Cooking Poussin Whole:

1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Rinse the Poussin under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.
3. Season the Poussin with salt, pepper, and any other desired herbs or spices. You can use a mixture of garlic powder, thyme, and paprika for added flavor.
4. Heat a skillet or oven-safe pan over medium-high heat. Add a little oil and sear the Poussin on all sides until golden brown. This step helps to lock in the juices and enhance the flavor.
5. Transfer the Poussin to a roasting pan or baking dish. Place it breast side up.
6. Optional: You can stuff the cavity of the Poussin with aromatics like lemon wedges, garlic cloves, and fresh herbs for added flavor.
7. Place the roasting pan in the preheated oven and cook the Poussin for about 25-30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Baste the Poussin occasionally with its own juices or melted butter for added moisture and flavor.
8. Once cooked, remove the Poussin from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute and ensures a juicy and tender result.
9. Serve the Poussin whole, or you can carve it into smaller pieces if desired. Enjoy!
