|Ginger has a plethora of health benefits. From warding off disease through certain chemicals present in fresh ginger to promoting oral health and hygiene, ginger is a healthy choice. It can also calm nausea and soothe sore muscles, as well as lowering blood sugar, cholesterol and indigestion. With these benefits to the body and the brain, it’s hardly surprising that ginger is hailed a superfood.
|To ensure the optimal freshness and flavor of ginger, it’s best to store it in the refrigerator. First, peel the ginger and then place it in a resealable plastic bag or an airtight container. If you prefer, you can also wrap the ginger in a slightly damp paper towel before storing it in the bag or container. This helps to maintain the moisture content without making the ginger too wet. Stored in this manner, ginger can last for several weeks in the refrigerator. Alternatively, you can freeze ginger for longer-term storage. Simply peel and chop the ginger into small pieces, place them in a freezer bag, and store in the freezer. Frozen ginger can be grated or chopped directly into dishes without thawing, making it a convenient option for preserving this flavorful spice.
