Views from around the farm

My farm is set high up in the Devon hills with views that stretch from North Cornwall to Dartmoor. This is true cattle country and I love to rear indigenous breeds like North and South Devons.

I have a fairly small acreage, which is why I can’t keep too many animals.

Also, this year I’ve had to drain the fields. Huge volumes of rain have caused waterlogging. So later this year I’m going to experiment with some winter crops – really to re-energise the land and to harvest for feed.

This area is not known for crops, it’s famous as cattle country, but as feed prices increase we need to be as versatile as we can.

I’ll let you know how it goes.
